Pip is fortunate enough to be whisked away from his simple, low class home and sent to a enormous, big, and busy place known as London. Pip is sent to fulfill expectations that were set up for him to live up to. London is a broad city that has a varying amount of characters which all have one goal in life, which is to succeed and become something notable in life. This is so they can carve their name into society and be recognized for their work. This is exactly what Pip's benefactor had in mind for Pip when he invested his lifetime earnings into Pip's future. London is the a significant place in the novel for it is where a large majority of the novel's mysteries are solved and multiple new twists are presented to the reader. Last but not least, London is the place where Pip undergoes a complete transformation as a person since he spends his teenage years until he has developed into a man.
